Dexter Holland of The Offspring performs onstage during Southside Festival at Take-off Gewerbepark on June 20, 2026 in Neuhausen, Germany. Thomas Niedermueller/Redferns/Getty Images The Offspring are dead set on making history — in a rather unusual way. The Cali punk rockers want to create the biggest mosh pit to ever form to a Taylor Swift song.
What track have they selected as the catalyst? Well, “Love Story,” of course. Sure, the country-pop hit doesn’t exactly scream “rage in mosh pit,” but it was written by a 17 year-old Swift who was mad at her parents, so there’s plenty of teen angst to work with. The band have taken the Shakespeare-inspired song and reimagined it into a riff-heavy riot during their latest live performances.

“People don’t realize that Taylor Swift is actually super punk,” lead singer Dexter Holland recently said their show in the Netherlands. “She’s fucking punk as fuck,” he declared, before directing the massive crowd to help them in their record-setting pursuit. (Really, what’s more punk rock than changing the end of one of the most famous literary works ever?) For the song’s swelling bridge, Holland upped the punk rock ante and instructed the audience to form “the biggest Wall of Death ever.”
