The Broadway cast of 'Ragtime.' Matthew Murphy Ragtime broke its own house record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, bringing in $1.625 million last week, marking the highest gross for Lincoln Center Theater. The best musical revival had an average ticket price of $192.95, the second highest on Broadway last week, behind Hamilton, and played to 100 percent capacity. The musical is set to end its limited run Aug. 16.
Cats: The Jellicle Ball continues to have a pre-closing resurgence, with the show also hitting its highest gross yet, with close to $1.2 million. The average ticket price jumped up to $126.55 week and capacity increasing to more than 100 percent, ahead of the musical’s Aug. 8 closing.
Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, starring Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer, also reached the highest gross of its run last week, bringing in close to $1.2 million for its final performances. The show, which played its final performance July 26, played to 99 percent capacity and the average ticket price increased to $142.22.
It was a big week for most shows, as industry grosses jumped 12.5 percent from the prior week and attendance increased 7 percent amid the summer crowds.
The Lion King was the highest grossing show of the week, with $2.4 million brought in across nine performances, followed by Hamilton with $2.3 million, Death of a Salesman with $2.2 million (across seven performances), MJ with $1.9 million and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with $1.89 million.
