Paramount Pictures is set to release director David Ayer‘s film in theaters, and the first trailer debuted at the Las Vegas event. J. K. Simmons and Anna Lambe round out the cast.
Heart of the Beast centers on a former Army Special Forces soldier (Pitt), who fights for survival with his combat dog after a plane crash strands them in the Alaskan wilderness. Ayer directed the project from a script by Cameron Alexander.

The trailer focuses on the bond between Pitt and his pooch. “I’m gonna get you home,” Pitt assures the canine after their plane crashes. “We’re just going to have to do this the hard way.”
This footage also teases a frightening moment when Pitt and his dog cross a river, and Pitt’s effort to keep his dog from falling leads himself to wind up in the water. Other moments involve the pair facing off with wild animals.
“One last mission,” Pitt says. “I’m not going to let you die out here.”
Producers include Damien Chazelle and Olivia Hamilton for their Wild Chickens Productions banner through its first-look deal with Paramount. Also producing are Temple Hill Entertainment, Ayer for Crave Films and Pitt for Plan B. Richard Raymond serves as co-producer.
Ayer most recently helmed last year’s Jason Statham action vehicle A Working Man and previously directed Pitt in 2014’s Fury. His other features include Suicide Squad, Bright and The Beekeeper.
Pitt led director Joseph Kosinski’s 2025 racing film F1 that picked up four Academy Award nominations and also starred Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem. Pitt’s other recent credits include Wolfs alongside George Clooney and Chazelle’s 2022 movie, Babylon.
