©Paramount/Courtesy Everett Collection Several new challengers are stepping into the box office ring this weekend to face off.
Paramount’s “Street Fighter” video game adaptation should lead the pack of newcomers. It made $4 million in Thursday previews at the box office, and it’s expected to make $25 million to $35 million in its debut. Legendary and video game developer Capcom co-financed the film for $82 million, and it’s the first release under Paramount’s global distribution deal with Legendary. Directed by Kitao Sakura, the new take on the classic fighting games star Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Jason Momoa, 50 Cent and more as colorful brawlers who face off in a high-stakes tournament.
