Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers broke down everything you need to know about what’s happening in the world, from Bravo drama to geopolitical drama, as they kicked off the fifth annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards.

The two comedians took the stage in matching hockey jerseys, with Rogers referring to them as Heated Rivalry stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie “once the Substance wears off.” After ripping off the jerseys to reveal their more awards show-appropriate tuxedos, Rogers and Yang explained exactly what the offbeat Culture Awards are all about.

“It’s a huge queer celebration honoring actresses, lady musicians, and, randomly, Will Ferrell,” Rogers quipped. (Ferrell executive produces Yang and Rogers’ hit Las Culturistas podcast and was, this year, awarded the Culture Awards’ prestigious “Titan of Culture” prize.)

And as Yang later explained, there “is no such thing as high or low culture” at the Culture Awards: “Everything is just culture. That’s why Amal Clooney, a human rights pioneer, is nominated for the Mouse in the House Award for Quiet But Powerful. But so is ‘A Fart After Eating a Cucumber.’”

The Culture Awards, Yang continued, were all about bridging such gaps. As such, Rogers offered a helpful explanation of all the insane Summer House drama for all the non-Bravo devotees watching. And for all the Bravo watchers, Rogers offered this succinct distillation of what’s happening in the world these days: “Our country is at war.”
