Brittney Spencer will open a string of dates for Bob Dylan. Jason Koerner/Getty Images In the summer of 2024, Brittney Spencer played a series of amphitheater dates with Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Bob Dylan on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. It was a huge opportunity for the country singer-songwriter, though she assumed she’d never even meet Dylan, let alone interact with him.
But one night, she found herself face-to-face with him when he stopped by her dressing room after a set. “[He] told me he really liked my songs,” Spencer wrote on Instagram, announcing four concert dates this summer where she’ll open for Dylan and Jimmie Vaughan. “He was so detailed about it all that I could actually barely handle it. He asked for my number. I wrote it on a napkin & gave it to him. He didn’t call lol. I think this is his way of calling now & I’m picking up on the first ring.” (In an Instagram video Spencer posted along with the announcement, Dylan is seen lurking on the side of the stage as she plays, looking disturbingly like a Sith Lord.)

Spencer is opening for Dylan in mid-July at shows in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, and Gilford, New Hampshire. It’s part of a series of East Coast dates that Dylan just added to his already packed U.S. summer tour schedule. It begins June 4 in Troutdale, Oregon, and wraps up July 25 in Vienna, Virginia. Fans that can’t wait that long can see Dylan hit remote markets in the south through the rest of April, including Macon, Georgia; Dothan, Alabama; and Tyler, Texas.
