President Trump’s former personal attorney Todd Blanche was sworn in as attorney general on Monday, making him the second official to hold the top law enforcement position during the second Trump administration.

Trump’s aide Margo Martin posted a video of Blanche’s swearing in from the Oval Office on Monday afternoon.

The Senate confirmed Blanche in a 50-49 vote on Saturday after weeks of uncertainty over his nomination.

Blanche failed to get the votes of Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine) who both raised concerns about Blanche’s ability to serve as an independent leader of the Justice Department.

GOP Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.), John Cornyn (Texas) and Bill Cassidy (La.) had also raised concerns over Blanche’s move to greenlight a $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization” fund. However, all three senators ended up voting to confirm Blanche.

Blanche rescinded the fund last week amid concerns it would ultimately sink his nomination.

“I am deeply honored by the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me to lead the Department of Justice as our great nation’s 88th Attorney General,” Blanche wrote on social media following his confirmation vote Saturday.

“I am grateful to the Senate for staying late to complete this process,” he continued.
