People We Meet On Vacation is the first of several adaptations from her widely popular novels. The film stars Tom Blyth as Alex Nilsen, the best friend to co-star Emily Bader’s zany Poppy Wright. People We Meet On Vacation follows Poppy and Alex on their yearly best friend getaways, tracking their relationship from reluctant travel companions to friends to something more.
“The intentions [here] were to make a really good piece of work in [the rom-com] genre, and it’s a genre that I love. Everybody loves putting on those Nora Efron classics, and the filmmakers here were striving to make something that was a modern answer to those that was in discussion with When Harry Met Sally and those greats,” Blyth previously said to The Hollywood Reporter of making the film. “I think they managed to do that, and I’m really proud of it.”
The film version of her debut offering Beach Read is currently filming with Phoebe Dynevor set to play January Andrews and Patrick Schwarzenegger taking on the role of Augustus “Gus” Everett. Andie MacDowell and Kevin Bacon will also star.
Yulin Kuang wrote the script and is directing. Kuang co-wrote People We Meet On Vacation with Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo.
Mariska Hargitay will host the 2026 Emmys, which will air live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The Creative Arts Emmys will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6.
