Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced his next feature film directing project. John Lamparski/Getty Images Lin-Manuel Miranda has revealed the cast list for his upcoming feature film Octet.
In an Instagram post Tuesday, Miranda listed Amanda Seyfried, Rachel Zegler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Philipa Soo, Gaten Matarazzo, Jonathan Groff, Tramell Tillman and Paul-Jordan Jansen as cast members in the musical adaptation. He added that rehearsals on the project have begun.

The Hamilton creator revealed earlier this month that he would direct a feature film adaptation of the Dave Malloy musical, which premiered Off-Broadway in 2019. The a capella musical explores the topic of internet addiction as told through an eight-person support group meeting in a church basement. This is Miranda’s second time directing a feature film after taking on Jonathan Larson’s musical tick, tick…BOOM!, starring Andrew Garfield, in 2021.
The project comes on the heels of musical projects for several cast members, including Zegler, who just took home an Olivier for her role in Evita in the West End, Seyfried, who starred in The Testament of Ann Lee and Grof, who just finished up his Broadway run of Just In Time. Soo originated the role of Eliza in Miranda’s Hamilton, and Abbott Elementary’s Ralph returns to musicals after originating the role of Deena in Dreamgirls on Broadway. Matarazzo comes from a musical past and recently starred in Sweeney Todd, among Stranger Things filming. Jansen appeared on Broadway as an understudy to the titular role in Sweeney Todd. Best known for Severance, Tillman started his career in several Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
