'Ali G: Who Iz I?' Amazon-MGM Studios The first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest top-secret movie project has been revealed.
Amazon-MGM Studios released the first footage from Ali G: Who Iz I? (below), which returns Cohen’s hip-hop journalist character in a feature film “documentary” following Cohen as he unleashes Ali G on an unsuspecting public.
“I’ve been gone for 20 years, chilling,” Cohen narrates as Ali G. “And in that time, the world went to crap. There’s been Wars. Covid. And Ed Sheeran. I’m going to get back on top with a brand new thing called a ‘documentary.’ For the first time ever, this is with real people not actors. For more than a year we let the cameras follow me everywhere. Nothing was off limits.”

The footage includes Cohen’s taking classes, walking the streets, and going on various shows as Ali G (occasionally accompanied by a very pregnant-looking girlfriend, played by British comedian Morgana Robinson).
“It got the very latest firearms technology, action, drama, heartbreak, plot twists and the very latest TikTok trends,” Cohen adds.
The film marks Cohen’s directorial debut. The official description: “After twenty years spent ‘chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’,’ Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is 8 months pregnant. Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory… but soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence.
News first leaked that Cohen would be making another Ali G project in July and he was spotted in character attending Wimbledon.
Cohen first introduced Ali G on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998. Two years later, Cohen got his own series, Da Ali G Show, a sketch comedy series that included the character. Cohen also had a 2002 feature, Ali G Indahouse, but it was another Ali G Show character, Borat Sagdiyev, who would propel Cohen to global fame with the release of 2006’s Borat and its 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
Ali G: Who Iz I? will be released in theaters Oct. 23.
