Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker Courtesy of subject; Warner Bros. UTA has signed the writing and producing duo of Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker for representation in all areas.
Halpern and Schumacker are executive producers and co-showrunners (alongside series creator Quinta Brunson) of Abbott Elementary, which will air its sixth season on ABC in 2026-27. The show won the Golden Globe for best comedy series in 2023 and has been nominated for the best comedy Emmy in each of its first four seasons.
The pair are also behind Netflix’s forthcoming comedy series I Suck at Girls, based on Halpern’s nonfiction book. The show will follow the romantic ups and downs of three high school students (Kayo Martin, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Laila Pruitt), with Halpern and Schumacker serving as showrunners and executive producing. They’re also developing a comedy at HBO Max titled Backhanded (with fellow writer Ali Waller), all under their overall deal at Warner Bros. TV with their company, Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions. Additionally, Halpern and Schumacker are attached to write and direct a feature film adaptation of Halpern’s debut novel, Get Lost, set to be published in July.

Halpern and Schumacker’s previous work includes the DC animated series Harley Quinn and its spinoff, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, on HBO Max; CBS’ S#*! My Dad Says, based on Halpern’s book; NBC’s superhero comedy Powerless; and Fox’s Surviving Jack (which was also inspired by I Suck at Girls).
