Despite efforts from the progressive media and the invitation to skip class being fueled by public school teachers, administrators, and LGBTQ non-profits, it turns out that forcing people to use the correct pronouns just doesn’t have a whole lot of support

Even the Richmond Times-Dispatch sullenly noted that only 10,000 people registered their complaints about Governor Youngkin’s executive order returning conditions to normal and burying the Orwellian dictates

You could almost hear the local media panting Tuesday morning. There were rumors that some Virginia high school students were going to walk out of school to protest the new parental rights policies of the Youngkin administration.

You know, the Department of Education regulations announced earlier this month that support the principle that parents are the ultimate authority over their own kids.

Never mind that despite the urging of the ACLU and other radical groups, the walkouts Tuesday in this corner of Virginia were a bust. Nevertheless, they received outsized media coverage and sympathetic stories from woke reporters, who no doubt happily allowed their so-called sources to exaggerate the number of participants.

The method used was rather slick.  Progressive non-profit and pressure organizations simply announce a “walk out” at every school with a specified time (just about lunch time) and offer a cause to students.  Text messages and social media direction are issued, and the students do the rest.

It’s quite marvelous how it all works.

Yet even in that, most media outlets covering the mass walk out (sic) simply ignored how many students actually turned out.  Precisely because the walk out was, indeed, a dud.

One wag indicated what the turnout would be if these “walkouts” were scheduled on a Saturday morning vs. a Monday afternoon.  Turns out skipping out of class is far more attractive than skipping out of bed.

Meanwhile, progressives continue to use “wedge social issues” in an effort to divert from the national economy well into the throes of a recession and reeling from both increased debt spending in Washington as well as international energy concerns stemming from the conflict in Eastern Europe.

No real indicator as to how far local school administrators are willing to tolerate the return to normal, as a whole host of concepts such as Critical Race Theory and “diversity, equity, and inclusion” staffers are now being piled on top of Title IX administrators.

Trimming the hedges is one thing; ripping out the problem root and branch is quite another.
