Senator Cruz Details Grounds for Biden Impeachment

Texas has the grave responsibility along with New Mexico, Arizona, and California of guarding the southern border. The Lone Star State in particular has borne the brunt of the Biden administration’s open-borders policy. The extent of the damage to our nation’s sovereignty is not yet fully counted, but one thing is for sure: This was a dereliction of presidential duty according to Article II of the Constitution.

Texan politicians have been calling for the law to be upheld and for ICE agents to be allowed to do their jobs, but they have been met with deaf ears and an indifference from Washington. It is this same elitist indifference to the people whom they govern that has already begun to turn tides in political races. The recent GOP victory in Virginia is a canary in the tunnel for the Democrats.

The midterms are expected to be a big loss for the Democrats, and the GOP is ready to make some changes — including one big one. On his podcast, Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas mentioned that, should the GOP take the House in 2022, articles of impeachment might be introduced against President Joe Biden.

The problem with Republicans beginning proceedings toward impeachment is that the Democrats have cheapened impeachment by their actions against President Donald Trump. As you may recall, the Democrats impeached President Trump twice. On both occasions, the allegations were based on hearsay and an outright hoax. Trump had not broken the law and Democrats had no case, but they impeached him anyway. The Democrats turned impeachment into a cynical political weapon in their arsenal.

Making a mockery of a serious proceeding is nothing new for the Democrat Party. Take, for instance, the last time Republicans impeached a Democrat president: Bill Clinton. There were four articles of impeachment brought against President Clinton. The House charged him with two: lying under oath and obstructing justice. And yet all people can remember is Monica Lewinsky and the salacious affair. As tawdry as it may be, having an extramarital affair is not illegal. It was Bill Clinton’s perjury and obstruction that was illegal. But this bait-and-switch is nothing new for the Left and its media propaganda machines.

In the case of a possible Biden impeachment, there are actual grounds for this sort of check on the executive branch’s leader. The crisis at the border is now everyone’s problem because Biden’s administrative cronies systematically and with intent compromised the southern border. They put into place memos and mandates restricting Border Patrol agents from being able to effectively do their job. The border is a mess that cannot be hidden by the mainstream media, so they ignore it.

This is the biggest difference between the Trump impeachments and a potential Biden impeachment: Trump had committed no crime. Biden is flagrantly breaking the law and scorning his constitutional duty as president.

To quote Senator Cruz: “I said at the time, when we have a Democratic president and a Republican House, you can expect an impeachment proceeding. That is not how impeachment is meant to work.” He is absolutely right. Impeachment is a sober means by which Congress can keep in check the executive branch, and the Democrats have turned it into something petty and tawdry. Yet, in spite of this, Republicans should go forward. In this case, it is justice.
