Hump Day: Thundersnow – UPDATED

Posted by Maggie on  in From the editors

Well, to heck with my 6:00am alarm this morning. I woke to the sound of ‘thundersnow’ (yes, it’s a thing here on the nation’s Great Lakes region) around 4:45am and never drifted back to sleep. So, finally at 5:00ish I gave up and turned on FOX and Friends First only to hear that some black-hearted, soulless, poison-brained person had torched the 50 foot tall, patriotic-themed Christmas tree outside the FOX News Headquarters. Shannon Bream was live on air doing her late night news program during the arson attack…

The cable news network had just held a tree lighting celebration this past Sunday night. FDNY and NYPD arrived at the scene but the tree was completely consumed. NYPD made an arrest. It’s said the perpetrator had climbed the very tall tree to burn it from the top down. Gee, I wonder how long before the bastard is released under NYC’s “no bail” policy? And as I read around social media very early this morning the left is getting their usual ‘comfort and joy’ out of the lawlessness, destruction, and misery of others, just as they do out of the growing ‘smash and grabs’ and the infect epidemic of crime in this country.

Pray, America. Our nation is very ill, and it’s not the China plague virus.

When it really is “for the children”…

In these last two years of the China pandemic, there are some threads of ‘silver linings’ many have or are coming to realize. One is the vapid and shameless propaganda MSM. Another is the obvious agenda and goal the left (and in government) have for burning our Constitutional rights and liberty in order to take more and more control over us and over everything in our country. Oh, it’s happening as well in other western countries, and is being growingly met with outrage and opposition. But not so much here. You would think NYC, where such a huge percentage of businesses had to board-up for good over the lockdowns, restrictions and now greater and even more intrusive vaccine mandates that continue, would now have angry New Yorkers out in the streets like they are in European cities. But as writer and New Yorker Karol Markowicz explains, they are not. And that apathy has her very worried for her children, now and in the future…

Karol Markowicz (NYPost writer): I am leaving New York City for Florida. I never thought I would: I was raised in Brooklyn, my husband in Queens. Our three children were born in Manhattan

So it’s with some sadness and a lot of anger that I feel our family now needs to leave the city we’ve loved for so long. We’re going to Florida, a state we’ve come to regard as the beacon of freedom in this country.

It wasn’t that we suddenly realized Florida was sunny or had no state income tax. It isn’t because, as the Onion joked years ago, that as New Yorkers we woke up one day and realized it’s a horrible place to live. Not because of New York’s increasingly leftist politics, though obviously that didn’t help.

It was because they took away school during the pandemic and not enough of my fellow New Yorkers cared. I kept looking around at a civilization that does not value education. Or worse, values it for their own kids, in the form of private pods or putting them into open private schools, but won’t fight for their less fortunate neighbors to have the same.

And then, when schools finally reopened there was no discussion about the broken system that had kept them closed. The very same people stuck kids in masks indefinitely, even outdoors.

But the worst part was that New Yorkers quietly accepted this. At least schools were open, they said. We were a city of strivers! We were never a city that accepted the bare minimum, that was for … other cities, and here we were imposing just that on our children…

We can’t stay somewhere that treats children as an afterthought. We can’t stay somewhere that doesn’t fight for their own kids and the kids of their neighbors. We can’t wait for kids to get their childhood back and just hope for the best.

We saw something we can’t unsee. It’s time to go.

European governments have struggled to manage the pandemic well and maintain public trust, finds an analysis of the handling of the COVID-19 crisis by Germany, Sweden, and the UK, published in the open access journal BMJ Global Health.

A lack of transparency around policy decisions, mixed messaging, and increased questioning of government legitimacy and technical capacity fuelled public distrust, conclude the researchers…

Emina Melonic: Soul Monitors: COVID has accelerated the transformation of our education system into a mini-totalitarian state.

The American educational system has been infected by the tyranny of mediocrity for decades. The emphasis on strange and unattainable forms of equality, self-esteem (as opposed to balanced emotional health), and ideology have nullified the possibility of good education. Of course, this is not true of all schools. But generally speaking, schooling in America is an exercise in destructive ideology rather than learning.

In the last 20 months, our COVID-19 response has morphed very quickly into an authoritarian ideology that is trying to spread its infectious tentacles ever deeper into students’ lives. As bad as we knew things had gotten before COVID, few imagined that we would be talking about “parents’ rights” in America. But the strange use of critical race theory as a pedagogical cudgel, the relentless enforcement of mask mandates for children, and the push to vaccinate kids against COVID-19 have led us into that position…

A coalition of the World’s largest multi-national corporations is working to manipulate you into eating more “equitable” food though a business strategy designed to help major “food players” and other large businesses facilitate “the coming food systems transition.”

They plan to do so with the help of a new strategy that assesses the supposed morality of individual food items and uses that metric to make business decisions and levy performance reviews…

Joe-made crisis at the border…

Brandon Judd: Biden’s border crisis – only relief comes from court system trying to keep admin in line: What this administration has done to our border security is unconscionable

In the month of November, the Border Patrol recorded more than 52,000 got-aways on the southwest border – enough people to fill Joe Biden’s hometown of Greenville, Delaware 22 times. But he won’t have to deal with any of them, ever. For the rest of us who have to deal with the fallout from his lack of leadership, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that a lot of very bad people are entering our country illegally.

What this administration has done to our border security is unconscionable. They have encouraged the chaos on our border with their harmful policies. They have allowed cartels to generate all-time-high profits. They have put vulnerable women and children in harm’s way, and they have failed the American people they are supposed to be protecting…

James Jay Carafano: Are Biden’s policies inviting the next Pearl Harbor? He makes concessions to our adversaries and does nothing to strengthen the home front

In addition to refusing to challenge Beijing on the origins of the global COVID pandemic, the president has requested a defense budget that won’t even cover the cost of inflation. Meanwhile, Beijing continues its massive military buildup, which has already created the largest navy in the world and is testing hypersonic nuclear weapons capable of orbiting the earth and striking anywhere.

Meanwhile, Biden’s domestic policies have done nothing to strengthen the home front. He has divided the American people, pitting the vaccinated against the unvaccinated, Black against White and blue states against red.

He has turned the economy into a dumpster fire with raging inflation, constrained energy supplies, sluggish job growth and excessive COVID restrictions. And his open border policies have left the U.S. far more vulnerable to infiltration by terrorists, narco-traffickers and other security risks.

If you’re an adversary who wants to see America taken down a notch or two, you’ll look at what Biden is doing and say, “What’s not to like?” It must feel like they are playing high-stakes poker with the world’s worst poker player. Why wouldn’t they think, “Hey, let’s just keep this game going!” …

The report, therefore, recommended that references to Christmas be removed and that the term “holiday” be used instead.

Christian names such as Mary or John were also in line to be banned.
